Beta v.1.0 Patch Notes
Eye of the Erime » Devlog
Build Version: Beta v.1.0
Date: 5/13/25
Hello Explorers! Welcome to Beta v.1.0, our first Beta release of Eye of the Erime! We’ve been hard at work excavating more of the cave and working to restore it to its original beauty! We’ve discovered tons of new crystals and artifacts throughout the caves, along with a few… human touches, as well. Please remember, our excavation efforts are still underway, so much of what you see in this version of the game will change in future updates.
Happy exploring!
— The Excavation Team
Major Changes
Narrative, Full Voice Acting, and Subtitles
- It seems the head trauma from falling into the cave has worn off and our protagonist, Quin, has remembered how to speak! Almost every beat of the story has been implemented into the game with all roles being performed by their actual voice actors, rather than one random member of the Excavation Team. ;)
- Sometimes it can be hard to make out what people are saying in an echoey cave. To help address this, we’ve implemented brand new subtitle technology into the game, along with several settings available for you to tweak in the settings menu.
Refined Art
- Our Restoration Team has been hard at work reimagining the opening area of the game as well as the different puzzle worlds, just like they did in the Dwelling Circle for Alpha v.0.2.
- Several pieces of Erime technology have been faithfully recreated as they would have appeared in the Erime’s time in the cave.
- Thanks to the help of IRIS, the Entanglement Camera has been given a brand new look, along with several other parts of the UI!
- The Entanglement Flowers have been given new visual effects!
New and Refined Puzzles
- Almost every Echo Crystal in the cave has been reformatted to be better interpreted and completed by human users. We’ve also discovered a suite of previously undiscovered Echo Crystals in a previously closed off area of the cave, which we’ve made available to everyone at various points throughout the cave!
New Audio
- Improvements to our team’s Echo-Detection technology have allowed us to uncover new sounds once heard throughout the caves. Brand new background music has been added to several of the game’s areas, along with new audio for Echo Entanglement, Object Respawners, Hourglasses, and some crystals. We’re still hard at work finding and investigating even more of the sounds from the past, and are looking forward to sharing them with you all soon!
Human Technology Removal
- Our archeological experts have informed our team that an artifact we discovered in the caves was actually prototypes of the Entanglement Camera accidentally left behind by Dr. Sloan and IRIS. Memento Sculptures have been removed from the cave in order to maintain the archeological accuracy of the excavation site.
Camera Improvements
- Our Entanglement Coordinator has made noted improvements to the functionality of the Entanglement Camera. Taking pictures has never been easier!
Lots of bug fixes and minor changes
- Explore the caves to figure out what we could possibly be talking about!
Known Bugs
- Please press New Game and not Continue when first opening the game for the first time if Continue is there, saves do not carry over correctly between game versions
- Player and other objects do not consistently stick to rotating platforms
- Certain gaps can cause the player to get stuck, requiring the player to use the “reload last save” button in the pause menu
- The colorblind accessibility options are inconsistent at times
- The flowers change color but their effects do not
- Mouse sensitivity can be inconsistent between scenes
- Lack of optimization
- The quality option Very Low is not Very Low quality; it rivals Ultra for quality
- Echo entangled cubes have strange interactions while rewinding into cube holders
- The echo entangled cube falls out but the cube holder remains active
- Players spawn at the Tutorial entrance every time the player enters the Lab
